Disaster Resource Alliance offers four types of memberships to those who desire to partner with us.
DRA exists to strengthen the Christian community to serve Orange County through times of disaster. Organizations and individuals who share our Christian convictions (as expressed in our Statement of Faith) and seek to demonstrate the love of Christ as we serve our communities are invited to join DRA as Ministry Partners. DRA seeks to serve our Ministry Partners by making resources available to educate, equip, and empower them to play a vital role in the resilience of their community. DRA may provide opportunities for Ministry Partners to participate in disaster response efforts throughout Orange County; however, certain response roles are restricted to those who choose to become Certified Ministry Partners.
In order for DRA to recommend a Ministry Partner for deployment in certain disaster response roles, we require additional commitments from the Ministry Partner. These roles require background checks on each participant and in some cases may require specialized training. We expect our Certified Ministry Partners who are engaged in these roles to be committed to active involvement in DRA and to continuous growth in their disaster response capabilities.
While DRA is an organization built on and governed by Christian principles, we desire to work alongside others who share our desire to build disaster resilience into our communities but who do not share our Christian faith. This may include other non-profits and faith-based organizations, government, and for-profit corporations. Our only requirement is that you respect that our conversations and practices will reflect our Christian beliefs. Obvious examples are that prayer and references to Bible verses are common practices in our meetings.
DRA welcomes individuals who are not associated with a partner organization to be a part of our Alliance. As with our partner organizations, we expect Individual Partners to have an interest in building disaster resilience into our communities. Christian faith is not a requirement as long as you accept that we operate on Christian principles and respect that our conversations and practices will reflect our Christian beliefs. Obvious examples are that prayer and references to Bible verses are common practices in our meetings.
